Establishment

Sardar Patel University was established by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the then Bombay Province in December 1955 and was recognised under 2f of the UGC Act in October 1968. The university has completed 56 golden years of a fruitful existence that has brought it to the forefront in terms of its academic excellence. No wonder, then, efforts have been made either to emulate its example or to replicate it elsewhere in Gujarat!

Location

Sardar Patel University is situated in Vallabh Vidyanagar. The educational township of Vallabh Vidyanagar is close to the Milk City of India (Anand) in terms of its strategic geographical location. Anand is on Vadodara-Ahmedabad line of the Western Railway in the heart of Anand District of Gujarat. It is well connected with the rest of the country by railway network, and roads. It is flanked by two major cities of Gujarat: Sardar Patel International Airport at Ahmedabad and Vadodara Airport Vadodara. Besides their Airports, Ahmedabad and Vadodara also have railway junctions, and bus terminuses, and this makes it easy for a visitor to reach Anand, and from there on to Vallabh Vidyanagar.

The distance between Anand and Ahmedabad is 75 kms by road and 65 kms by railroad, and the journey takes an hour and a half or two hours at the maximum. Similarly, the distance between Anand and Vadodara is 45 kms by road and 35 kms by railroad, and the journey takes 45 minutes or an hour at the most. The Express Highway between Ahmedabad and Vadodara has further reduced the time taken in travelling to slightly over an hour, and half an hour from Ahmedabad and Vadodara respectively.

Vallabh Vidyanagar is about 5 kms from Anand and 2 kms from Karamsad, the native place of Sardar Patel.

The University Campus – the main campus as well as 3 satellite campuses – is situated in the heart of a rural countryside against a lush green pollution-free backdrop, offering all the amenities of modern life.

Reaching Vallabh Vidyanagar

Vallabh Vidyanagar today (with a population of around 35,000) is a unique educational township, built and developed as a Centre for Higher Education in rural surroundings. It is about 2 Kms. from Karamsad, the home town of Late Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and 5 Kms. from Anand, the Milk City of India, which is on Baroda-Ahmedabad Railway line in the heart of Anand district of Gujarat.

Reaching Sardar Patel University

The nearest railway station is Anand, which is about 5 kms from Vallabh Vidyanagar. From Anand Taxi, Auto-Rickshaw and Buses are available upto Vallabh Vidyanagar.

The nearest airport is Vadodara Airport, which is about 40 kms from Vallabh Vidyanagar.

The University offers 40 graduate and post graduate courses, 20 diploma courses and 8 certificate courses in mainstream faculty disciplines in Arts, Science, Business Studies, Education, Home Science, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Technology and Homoeopathy.
Thrust Areas include, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Bio-Science, Management, Electronics, Computer Application, etc.
Limited seats are also available for Foreign Students, Non Resident Indians and Sponsored Candidates in selected disciplines. The University greatly values socio-cultural diversity and views it as a source of enrichment.
The University intends to launch a major programme to enhance Industry-University interaction and linkages with UNISCO-UNIDO support.

Office hours:

The working hours of the various offices of the University are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

All the administrative offices are closed on 2^nd and 4^th Saturday in addition to other holidays.

The Corporation bank is located in the Business Studies Department.
